Northumberland Group Acquires McKessock Engineering Limited

Stewart Raynor, President of the Northumberland Group and Keith McKessock, President of McKessock Engineering Limited are pleased to announce the purchase of McKessock Engineering by Norgroup. The sale closed on February 1st. The company will continue to operate under the Norgroup umbrella as McKessock Conveyor Solutions Limited.

Keith founded McKessock 32 years ago. Originally established in Scarborough, Ontario the company relocated to its current location in Markham in 1997. From its offices, McKessock serves clients in the Greater Toronto Area and Western Ontario as well as across Canada.

The Northumberland Group includes Norpak Handling Limited of Port Hope, Ontario and Norpak (BC) Limited in Vancouver. The company originated in 1988 and has grown to be the largest independent systems integrator in Canada as well as the only Canadian conveyor company with offices or distributors across Canada.

Long time McKessock employees Dover Wynn (15 years) and Bob Sears (13 years) will be joining with Norgroup’s highly experienced staff to increase the range of services offered through the McKessock and Norpak brands.
Keith and his wife Pauline are looking forward to retirement. He stated he was delighted his company had joined with Norpak. “McKessock, Norpak and Norpak (BC) are well known for prompt customer service and high quality conveyor products and solutions.” Keith also noted the many similarities between the companies. “All of us have had extensive experience with the Hytrol line of conveyor products.” McKessock was the first Hytrol distributor in Canada and has won distinction for being their top international distributor on 5 occasions throughout the 1990’s and into the past decade. Stewart Raynor added: “Norpak has also been Hytrol’s top international distributor in 4 years. Between McKessock and Norpak we have captured the title every year for the past 5 years.”

Combined the operations will have sales offices in Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver along with its head office in Port Hope. The company has distributors in Halifax, Quebec City, Windsor, Winnipeg and Calgary. From smaller projects to more major systems, the McKessock and Norpak companies are available to satisfy the needs of all our customers.

Hytrol's new zero pressure conveyor control system called "EZLogic-Gen 3" is expected to revolutionize the industry. McKessock Engineering is proud to have led the way by being the first to introduce this design to Canada. The order shipped from Hytrol in January 2006. The Model ABEZ is one of a series of models utilizing the new Gen 3 technology.

Keith McKessock, CEO, is welcomed to the elite Hytrol Distributor Council.

Objectives of the Council:
To foster a closer bond between Hytrol and its distributor organization through personal communication and interaction. Additional objectives are to promote greater expertise in the area of sales and marketing of Hytrol products.
